Super Bowl Breakfast — San Francisco, February 6

PrintThe 2016 Super Bowl is coming to the Bay Area on Sunday, February 7.

Accompanying the Super Bowl is an additional NFL sanctioned major event — the Super Bowl Breakfast. The breakfast event takes place on the Saturday before the game – February 6 – at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco. The event is open to the public.

At the breakfast, a current NFL player will receive the Bart Starr Award for outstanding integrity and leadership in the home, on the field, and in the community. The 2015 winner was Peyton Manning. Past award winners include Steve Largent, Reggie White, Anthony Munoz, Mike Singletary, Cris Carter, Curtis Martin, Kurt Warner, London Fletcher, Drew Brees, Jason Witten, and Aaron Rodgers.

Local readers of this blog should find the event of special interest as it is sponsored by Athletes in Action (AIA), an international Christian organization with the goal to reach people for Christ through sports.

Terry Bortz, AIA leader responsible for the event comments: “The Super Bowl Breakfast provides a wonderful opportunity for followers of Christ to invite their friends who will hear how Christian faith is lived out day-to-day, even in the NFL.”

Speakers for this year’s Super Bowl Breakfast will feature several former players and coaches, including Brent Jones (49ers), Roger Staubach (Cowboys), Tony Dungy (Colts), Tim Brown (Raiders), and Mike Ditka (Bears), among others.

As many as 1,500 people are expected to attend the Super Bowl Breakfast in San Francisco. Sponsorships, tables, and individual registrations are still open for purchase.
